I am giving this book 5 stars for the recipes in the book. The recipes are AWESOME!! Different-unusual types of candies. It was just really cool. I am giving it one star for format. This is a book that doesn’t convert to the Kindle and the Kindle doesn’t do it justice. The authors did step by step recipes/pictures which are imperative to understand the steps of the recipes, but the pictures are difficult to see on the kindle. Also,it is too difficult to navigate the recipes with the Kindle. THIS IS A BOOK WHICH NEEDS TO BE PUT INTO PRINT! I know for me, I would buy it in a second! There are several recipes which are being put into my Christmas tray line. On a side note, this is not a book for new cooks. The recipes are not beginner level and most have many and involved steps. If you like to make and are experienced candy maker, you will feel like you are in heaven with this book.

Delightful!, June 9, 2011

What a surprise! I loved the story and the recipes look yummy. I couldn’t wait to see how the Traveler gets out of the Kingdom of Epicuria. Now I am off to make the Chocolate Mayonnaise cake.

Great cookbook collection!, January 20, 2012

I bought all of the books in this series and they’re great. This is the last one I read through, and the recipes look great, and it looks like the author put a lot of effort into picking out recipes that would be widely liked as well as include natural ingredients.

Awesome looking collection of recipes, January 20, 2012

I haven’t tried to make any of these recipes yet, but I am a pretty good cook (at least that’s what my family tells me, lol) and after reading through all of the recipes, I’m very happy that I got the book. Everything in here looks awesome and my kids are already begging me to make them potato pizzas. If you don’t have this book, get it, you’ll love it!

I made my first tasty healthy dinner ever! Yay!, January 17, 2012

I’ve been looking for cookbooks that offer healthy recipes, but haven’t found any whose recipes don’t taste like the paper they’re printed on. I think my search is over. Chicken and dumplings are one of my favorite meals, and the recipe here was great for all the fresh ingredients I used. Five stars all the way!

Gourmet Cooking for Two, November 7, 2010

I have owned this book for years and have ordered and given several copies to friends and family. This is a great little book for the two-person household. Best of all, the recipes are easily accessible for the novice as well as the experienced cook, and can all be made quickly.

Organized as all the “Best of Gourmet” series are (i.e., appetizers, soups, quick breads, fish & shellfish, meats, poultry, breakfast and cheese and egg dishes, vegetables, salads, desserts), with a few suggested menus at the beginning, it is a very easy book to use. I have made about 75% of the recipes in this book over the years, and there are only a couple that I would not make again — not because they are “bad”, but because they did not suit my palate or my partner’s or daughter’s. There are a number of recipes in the Vegetables section that make wonderful vegetarian entrees — for example, the pita pizzas are delightful and quite filling. Sweet Maria’s Italian Desserts -paperback, February 16, 2004

Many of us past the age of 40 have difficulty with small print, especially in recipes with fractions. I will give the book to a friend who can read without a magnifying glass.

Some of her recipes do not contain salt, which can result
in a flat taste,regardless of other ingredients.
It would have been nice to have a few photos.

This is a varied collection of recipes with simple directions.

Do yourself a favor and skip the tiramisu recipe in this book – it is awful.

(I use a more authentic one from [...].)

I’ve only tried the tiramisu recipe in ‘Sweet Maria’s”, but if the author can’t get this classic right, how good can her other baked goods be?

This slim volume of biscotti recipes is a winner – a visually appealing volume as well as having consistency good recipes. It provides a sufficiently broad selection of biscotti – from very sweet to mildly sweet, from very crisp to barely crisp. Everyone should be able to find a favorite.

This is my most used and favorite biscotti book, May 24, 1999

The recipes are varied and I can always find one that suits the occasion or suits whatever ingredients I happen to have on hand. It’s a gift that I have given to numerous people and they LOVE it also. My favorite simple recipe is the one with grated nutmeg and orange rind..ummmmm

Yummers!!, August 30, 1998

I’ve bought several biscotti books, but this is the one I keep returning to and have bought several copies of for gifts. I’ve made five or six of the recipes in it (I keep going back to the favorites!) and have used ideas from it to create my own versions, always successfully. The only complaint I have is that the "Chocolate Ribboned Biscotti" do not, in fact, have a ribbon of chocolate running through them, but a layer of melted chocolate slathered on the outside — making it just like the recipes that suggest the chocolate as an option, rather than something different like a marble biscotti. Other than that minor complaint, I have to say that I’m very pleased with this book. I especially recommend the "Triple Ginger Biscotti," if you happen to like ginger!
